Index to plates, 33 .pp., followed by 76 collotype plates with printed tissue guards. The collection comprises 1 plate of old koshirae, 44 plates of tsuba [6 per page except one page of 5], 8 plates of mitokorimono [2 to 4 per plate], 7 plates of 24 kozuka each, 8 plates of 16 pairs of menuki per plate, and 7 plates of 16 fuchi-kashira per plate. All fittings seem to be shown at actual size. This is the Japanese version of the only edition of this exceptional catalog, of which 100 copies each in English and Japanese were produced for private distribution. The index pages and tissue guards are the only difference between the two versions, the plates are identical. Shimbi Shoin was the premier Japanese art reproduction printer from the mid-1890's through the 1930's, and represented the state of the art of fine printing in Japan. This volume has some cover fraying and some foxing mostly to the tissue guards, but is in generally very good condition otherwise. All text in Japanese.With a separate modern facsimile, produced in Japan, of the treatises by Wada that were distributed with the Japanese edition, bound in the Japanese manner.
