Kokusai Tosogu Kai, 2005 International Convention & Exhibition Supplement.
George, Richard.

Publisher: Kokusai Tosogu Kai
Date Published: 2007

Description: 109 p. The supplement to the catalog of the first Exhibition of Kokusai Tosogu Kai, an international group dedicated to the study and appreciation of tosogu, or Japanese sword fittings. Held in Louisville, Kentucky, the exhibition featured items from Canadian, US, and Japanese collections. While the Japanese-owned items were professionally photographed in Japan for the original catalog, logistics prevented the US and Canadian owned items to be included. This supplement, produced by Richard George, who professionally photographed those pieces at the Convention, to the same high standards as the original catalog. The catalog also features a thorough 29 page article by Richard George entitled "A Brief Survey of Tsuba to the Early Edo Period," and a brief but insigtful article by Timothy Evans on "Tensho Koshirae and Antiquarian Revivals." Essential for those who have the original catalog, and an exemplary work on its own.
